About Us

Nestled into the cliff directly above Lulworth Cove, Bishops Cottage feels like a secret world amidst the hustle and bustle. With its beautiful bedrooms, mature gardens, pool and hidden sun terraces it is the perfect place to escape for a weekend break or holiday.

Originally two cottages dating back to the 1650’s, the building is one of the oldest in the village of West Lulworth. It was once the home of Bishop Wordsworth of Salisbury (son of the poet, William Wordsworth) and has been carefully adapted over the years to retain its original architectural features, without compromising on comfort.

Our Family Home

After many years as a hotel, restaurant and bar, we have now closed our doors and taking it back to basics. We are now an open home to those in need of a quiet get away.

We hope our past regulars enjoy our new changes and our future guests relish in the tranquility and uniquiness of the experience we are offering.

Dogs Welcome

We love dogs in Dorset and most pubs and restaurants permit them entry, including Bishops Cottage. We do have TnC's when it come to the fluffy babies which ensures all guests and dogs are happy and safe during their stay.

We accept a maximum of 2 dogs per room and charge £20 per dog regardless of shape and size.
